Meeting convened in Hasakah on matter of merger of trade unions

The governor of Hasakah, Engineer Nour al-Din Ahmad, received a delegation from General Federation of Trade Unions of Syria in connection with the ongoing process of merger of institutions; the delegates were accompanied by Dr. Jian Hassan and Mr. Hassan Shro, members of the merger committee.

The meeting covered the steps and procedures connected with the merging of the General Federation of Trade Unions in Syria and the Federation of Trade Unions in the Autonomous Administration, and also the mechanisms of cooperation of the two parties aimed at the consolidation of trade union activity and its enhancement as an important mechanism of protecting workers’ rights.

It was stressed that the merger of the two Federations should be carried out under certain organizational and administrative rules ensuring the continuity of the activity of trade unions institutions and their enhanced activity oriented towards improvement of the conditions of workers’ life and labor.

They also stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the relevant parties to ensure the success of the merger process and achieve the desired goals in a way that serves the interests of workers in various sectors.
