Massive march condemns violence against women in Qamishlo

As part of the activities marking the "International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women," observed annually on November 25, the K. Star organized a march for men in the city of Qamishlo in Jazera Canton.

Hundreds participated in the march, including members and administrators from Autonomous Administration institutions and civil society organizations.

Participants carried banners with messages written in Kurdish, Arabic, and English, such as "With the Philosophy of Woman, Life, Freedom, Protect Yourself," "Woman, Life, Freedom Against All Forms of State and Patriarchal Violence," and "Enough Killing and Violating Life." They also held up pictures of pioneers and leaders while chanting the slogans "Woman, Life, Freedom" and "No to Killing."

After the march stopped near Martyr Rûbar Roundabout, a speech was delivered in Kurdish by Jawaher Othman, member of the Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council in the Autonomous Administration of NE Syria, and in Arabic by Ghufran Kokab, the Co-Deputy Chair of the People's Municipality in Qamishlo.

Jawaher Othman highlighted the issue of violence against women, emphasizing the need to strengthen the struggle to end it.

She elaborated on the essence of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and pointed out how authoritarian powers exert violence against society through women.

In her speech, Ghufran Kokab saluted the global struggle of women, emphasizing that women around the world are fighting for freedom.

She concluded her speech by saying, "The source of the struggle for women's freedom lies in the thought and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan."
