Mass Celebrations of Newruz in cities of Northern Kurdistan

Hundreds of citizens participated in the Nowruz celebration held at the İmeksiz Junction in the center of the city of Malatya.

The celebration began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, during which the slogan “Martyrs Never Die” was chanted. After the Nowruz organizing committee welcomed the attendees, representatives of local institutions delivered short speeches. Artistic groups then took the stage, while participants enthusiastically joined the celebration.

Mardin

During the massive Nowruz celebrations in Nusaybin, a district of Mardin, which were attended by thousands of people, Kurdish politician delivered a speech saying:

“We must ensure that the leader of peace and democracy is free in order to achieve peace and democracy.”

Muş

In Kop district, affiliated with Muş province, Nowruz celebrations were held under the slogan “Freedom and Democratic Unity.”

During the celebration, which took place in the bus station square, slogans such as “Long live Leader Apo” and “Woman, Life, Freedom” were chanted. Women and youth participated wearing traditional Kurdish clothing.

Despite snowfall, large numbers of citizens attended and formed circles of Kurdish dabke dances to the rhythm of songs. The celebration was also attended by DEM Party MPs from Muş, Sümeyye Boz and Sezai Temelli.
