Martyrs’ Families Councils in Tirbespiye and Hasakah condemn AVA TV’s conduct

In a joint statement, the councils denounced what they called the “provocative act” carried out by AVA TV after it blurred the image of Leader Abdullah Ocalan during one of its broadcasts.

The statement was read by council member Rama Tahlo in front of the April 4 Park in Tirbespiye, and also at the Martyrs’ Families Council center in Al-Tala’i Camp, by Shirin Hassan and Anas Mustafa, with the participation of members from both councils.

The councils stressed that this act cannot be considered merely a media mistake, but rather constitutes an affront to national and struggle-related symbols.

They added that the attempt to blur the leader’s image targets Kurdish collective memory and reflects policies aimed at erasing identity and fostering division, at a time when unity and strengthening national discourse are most needed.

The councils called on the channel’s administration to issue a clear and official apology to the Kurdish people, especially to the families of martyrs. They also urged Kurdish media outlets to uphold national and professional responsibility and avoid anything that could incite division or offend symbols of struggle.

The statement concluded by affirming that the status of Leader Ocalan will remain firmly rooted in the conscience of the people, and that attempts at obscuring his image will not succeed in undermining his symbolism or the cause he represents.
