Martyrs families council demands punishment for those responsible for vandalizing martyrs' shrines

The Martyrs' Families Council in Jazira issued a statement today regarding the attacks on martyrs' shrines in areas from which the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) withdrew. The statement was read in Kurdish by Wafa Abdo, a member of the Martyrs' Families Council in Qamishlo and in Arabic by the council's co-chair, Ubaid Atah, at the shrine of Martyr Dalil Sarukhan.

The council condemned, with deep anger and sorrow, the attacks on holy sites and symbols of dignity in the areas where the forces withdrew, noting that the martyrs' shrines had been subjected to systematic looting, vandalism, and destruction.

The Council explained that these violations constitute a blatant attack on the sanctity of the martyrs and a flagrant transgression against human values. The destruction of the gravestones of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for freedom reveals the backward mentality of those who seek to exact revenge on the legacy of resistance.

The Council affirmed that the dignity of the martyrs is a red line that cannot be crossed, and called upon the international community and human rights organizations to document these violations and work to hold the perpetrators accountable.

The Council concluded its statement by emphasizing that the desecration of shrines will only strengthen the families of the martyrs' adherence to the values ​​of their loved ones and their determination to honor their sacrifices.

It stressed that their memory will remain eternally enshrined in our hearts and minds, and no act of vandalism will erase it.
