Martyr Aziz Koyluoğlu played key role in training many media cadres

Today, the Media Department of North and East Syria issued a statement on its official platforms regarding the martyrdom of journalist Aziz Koyluoğlu. The statement read:

"With deep sorrow, we have received the news of the martyrdom of the member of the Democratic Media Union, Aziz Koyluoğlu. This journalist played a significant and pioneering role in highlighting the reality of the July 19 Revolution and the struggle of the people of North and East Syria to build a free, democratic, and decentralized Syria.

The Turkish occupation state seeks, through targeting journalists, to obscure the truth about the peoples and the violations and crimes committed against them. The targeting of our colleague ‘Aziz Koyluoğlu’ and before him journalists ‘Cîhan Bîlgîn and Nazim Datan,’ is just another link in the chain of crimes committed by the Turkish state against media and journalists.

Our dear colleague and revolutionary journalist, Aziz Koyluoğlu, was among the first journalists to come to North and East Syria. He worked tirelessly to expose the truth about ISIS terrorism in the region and to cover the campaigns of the Syrian Democratic Forces against this terrorist organization. He also played a key role in training many media cadres who are now working in the field of media in the North and East Syria region.

We, in the Media Department of North and East Syria, extend our condolences to ourselves, the family of the martyr Aziz, all journalists who uphold free speech, the Democratic Media Union, and our people on the martyrdom of our colleague Aziz. We affirm that the Turkish occupation state will not succeed in achieving its goals of weakening the determination and perseverance of journalists in continuing their work and exposing its crimes against humanity and the world.

Once again, we offer our condolences to all our people on the martyrdom of one of the pillars of free media, journalist Aziz Koyluoğlu."
