The Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan in Tabqa Canton organized the march to reaffirm the demand for the physical freedom of Leader Ocalan and to support the call for “peace and a democratic society.”

The march, which was attended by residents of the canton along with representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, its affiliated bodies and councils, the Future Syria Party Council, and the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council, started from the First Neighborhood in Tabqa city. Marchers carried a banner reading: “Physical freedom for Leader Apo guarantees peace and democracy for peoples,” along with photos of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and chants such as “Yes to Leader Apo’s freedom” and “Long live Leader Apo.”

Upon arriving at the Second Neighborhood Roundabout, participants observed a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Then, Riyad Al-Wali, a member of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan in Tabqa, delivered a speech stressing that “Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s project offers a realistic alternative to the escalating crises in the Middle East. Through his call for dialogue and rejection of violence, the continuation of his isolation stands in contradiction to his genuine call for peace.”

Al-Wali added: “Despite his difficult conditions, Leader Abdullah Ocalan has not ceased working toward a solution. It is now clear that there is no real way out of the region’s crises except through his project, and ignoring this proposal is no longer viable.”

He pointed out that “the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan is not a symbolic demand, but a necessity to open the doors to the future for peoples yearning for true peace. Peace can only be built through those who possess credibility and vision.”

For her part, Rania Bitar, a member of the Zenobia Women’s Gathering Council in Tabqa, affirmed that “Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s freedom is an objective condition for any real democratic transformation in the region. His thought and project pose a direct threat to the dominant authoritarian and capitalist structures.”

Rania Bitar continued: “The leader’s resistance was not only against isolation but also the resistance of free thought and philosophy. Experience has proven that free thought is stronger than tools of oppression, and the attempts at isolation aimed to silence his project have failed, as his ideas continue to serve as a political and theoretical reference for peoples longing for freedom.”

She stressed the continued struggle for the leader’s liberation, affirming that “the freedom of peoples is inseparable from the freedom of the one who represents their liberation project.”

The march concluded with the affirmation that the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan is a true gateway to building a democratic and peaceful future and that the continuation of his isolation remains an obstacle to any fair and comprehensive solution in the region.
