Man found dead after abduction in Homs countryside

The body of a man was found in the western countryside of Homs after he had been abducted, while investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the crime.

The body of a man in his forties was found today inside a room on farmland between the villages of Al-Shinniyah and Al-Taybah Al-Gharbiyah in western Homs countryside, less than 24 hours after he was abducted from his workplace.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the man was kidnapped while working at a poultry farm before his body was discovered near the area where he had gone missing.

The Observatory said that preliminary information points to possible sectarian motives, although the motive behind the crime and the identity of those responsible remain unknown. Investigations are still underway.

The incident comes amid ongoing kidnappings and extrajudicial killings across several parts of Syria. The Observatory has documented the deaths of 125 people since the beginning of 2026.
