Looting, executions, raising of Turkish occupation flag in Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh

Operations of looting and theft targeting homes and property of residents are ongoing in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo city, after their inhabitants were forcibly displaced as a result of recent attacks launched by mercenaries of the Interim Government, backed by the Turkish occupation.

Eyewitnesses told ANHA agency that summary executions have been carried out against a number of residents, including a young man identified as “Basil,” as part of the continued crimes and violations committed by the mercenaries inside the neighborhoods.

Mercenaries of the Interim Government also raised the Turkish occupation flag over the former Internal Security point on Salah al-Din Street, as well as over several council institutions.

On the humanitarian front, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) revealed that more than 1,229 people, including 298 children, have been displaced from Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh to “host communities and collective shelters in cities of North and East Syria” since 11 December.

For its part, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that nearly 120,000 people remain displaced as a result of attacks by mercenaries of the Interim Government on Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, amid deteriorating humanitarian conditions and difficulties in returning.

Meanwhile, the Afrin Human Rights Organization stated that the number of missing persons resulting from the attacks has exceeded 500, warning of grave risks threatening the lives of civilians and the fate of the missing.
