The international conspiracy that targeted the leader Ocalan during the years 1998-1999 brought about a major shift in the development of Kurdish national awareness, as protests against the conspiracy extended to the mountains and plains, squares and prisons, and millions of Kurds rallied around the leader.

The conspirators did not expect that millions of people would stand up against the conspiracy that took place as an international attack against the Kurdish people and their free future.

 New Stage of Struggle

The struggle for the freedom of Kurdistan entered a new stage, as the Kurdish people thwarted the conspiracy from the beginning, through their struggle for freedom. The conspirators had hoped to extinguish the flame of the struggle forever, with the kidnapping of the leader Abdullah Ocalan. However, the struggle entered a new stage; because the democratic, environmental and women's liberation model proposed by the leader, not only contributed to the entry of the Kurdish people's freedom struggle into a new stage; but also contributed to paving the way for the socialist and democratic struggle all over the world.

The “You Cannot Block Our Sun” activities have established a new approach to struggle against capitalist domination. Today, this approach to struggle against genocide, exploitation and conspiracy continues in the mountains of Kurdistan.

The Kurdish Freedom Movement and the Kurdish and Kurdistani people declared October 9, 1998 a dark day and launched continuous activities to make their voices heard all over the world.

Ural, who left a letter before his martyrdom which stated: “My anger, hatred and revenge are very great, but in prison I cannot do that against the enemy. Through this operation I want to show my loyalty to you once again, and through this operation I want to show my hatred, anger and malice towards the enemy, and once again I want to take revenge. I did not have the honor of meeting and seeing you, but I always feel you in my heart. Of course, my operation will not force the Turkish state to take any step, but they will see that the Kurdish people will turn the world into a prison for them."
