Leader Ocalan's Freedom initiatives send message to new president of OHCHR

During its meeting held on January 10, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights elected the Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Omar Zniber, as the new President of the Commission.

After the news of his election spread, the Syrian Initiative for Leader Abdullah Ocalan Freedom and the initiative of the Syrian lawyers of Leader Abdullah Ocalan sent a letter to the head of the High Commission, Omar Zniber.

According to what members of the initiative told ANHA agency, the message was sent via the Internet and Omar Zniber was congratulated on his new position, and he was asked to place the issue of ending the isolation imposed on the leader Abdullah Ocalan and achieving his physical freedom on the Commission’s agenda. The letter also touched on the situation in Imrali and the crimes committed against Leader Ocalan.

On December 31 of last year, one thousand and 25 lawyers from NE Syria and the rest of the Syrian regions sent a petition bearing their signatures demanding the physical freedom of Leader Ocalan to Amnesty International, according to the information we received from the initiative, Amnesty International has not provided any response to the petition yet.
