Leader Ocalan sends message of peace at Cologne rally

Leader Abdullah Ocalan sent a message to the marchers:

"Greetings to all who believe in peace and freedom, dear friends, comrades, and all freedom fighters,

You have gathered from across Europe and walked together in this great march in Cologne. This step you took is very significant.

This rally is not only for my freedom, but also for a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue and a noble struggle for peace.

Your step expresses determination, will, and a renewed hope for the path of peace and democratic society.

My freedom is inseparable from the freedom of the Kurdish people and the democracy of the peoples of Turkey.

When we say 'freedom,' we mean peace, democracy, and equal citizenship.

Through this rally, you deliver to the world our demand for a solution, democracy, and freedom. We are making efforts with our free will for progress and building.

Despite all interruptions and difficulties, we have continued our attempts for peace and dialogue since 1993.

These efforts prove that the foundation of this land is brotherhood.

Despite all we have faced, hope has remained alive, and today, with this step in the march for peace and democratic society, hope is renewed in spirit and body.

In fact, this process represents a shift from a negative revolutionary path to a positive one, and this transformation should be understood as a universal and historical reality.

After Kurdish struggle was confined to illegal frameworks, we are now entering a legal phase and will continue our struggle on this basis.

I hope your rally, with all its significance, will help advance and develop the struggle for solution and peace.

'Constitutional recognition of the Kurdish people is the key to Turkey’s democratic future'

Dear friends,

For the Kurdish people to be constitutionally recognized and to continue existing as equal citizens in a democratic land, a democratic future for Turkey must be built.

Similarly, for Kurds in Syria and across the Middle East, peace cannot be achieved without granting Kurds the right to exist and freedom. Therefore, they must be at the forefront of free coexistence.

We hear your loud voice in Europe and know that your message has reached everyone.

You, who were forced to leave your countries due to anti-democratic practices, represent the living conscience of solution and peace.

Every step you take is a step for brotherhood and peace.

I am confident that with your determination, the Kurdish people and all oppressed peoples will reach a free and democratic future.

I send you all my love and respect.
