On Sunday, a delegation comprising a group of prominent Kurdistani artists and intellectuals, namely Diyar Yashar (Diyar Dersim), Ibrahim Jalak (Hozan Şemderîn), artist Gulbahar Rahim (Jala), artist Luqman Salim Fattah, footballer Deniz Naki, journalist Daniel Jamali, artist Renas Lezgin Saadi, and writer Kakshar Khurshid visited Rojava in support of the popular resistance and to take part in the general mobilization. The delegation reaffirmed its support for the sacrifices of the martyrs who gave their lives for the freedom and dignity of the Kurdish people and for the realization of their dream of Kurdish unity.

The delegation continued its tour by visiting the shrine of martyr Dalil Sarokhan in honor of the sacrifices of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives so that the Kurdish people might live in peace and security and attain their legitimate rights. The delegation was received by administrators of the Council of Martyrs’ Families.

Rizan Kalo, co-chair of the Council of Martyrs’ Families in Rojava, welcomed the visiting delegation and emphasized that the Kurdish revolution has been ongoing for more than forty years, during which the Kurdish people have offered thousands of martyrs in pursuit of their legitimate rights.

He noted that the martyrs’ foremost dream was the unity of the Kurdish people, and that the shrine of martyr Dalil Sarokhan contains martyrs from all four parts of Kurdistan, in addition to martyrs from Arab communities embodying the concept of the democratic nation and the shared struggle among peoples.

Kalo added that visits by delegations from different parts of Kurdistan have demonstrated the failure of division schemes, and that the coming phase will witness mass popular movements and large-scale demonstrations aimed at achieving Kurdish unity and unifying positions under a single banner. He stressed that “our burden is heavy, and our salvation lies in unity.”

For their part, members of the delegation stated that the martyrs taught peoples the meaning of democracy and sacrifice, and that their hopes and aspirations must not be buried with them. Rather, the responsibility for realizing those aspirations today rests with artists, intellectuals, and all members of the Kurdish people.

They explained that the martyrs broke the chains of dictatorship and paved the way toward freedom and democracy, and that the unity of the Kurdish people has always been and remains the most powerful weapon in confronting oppression.

The delegation also emphasized that the Kurdish people today stand as one hand, and that unity has brought down dictators one after another. They affirmed their loyalty to the path of the late poet Cegerxwîn and their commitment to continue walking in the footsteps of the martyrs, whom they described as the true leaders of the struggle.

They further stressed that the martyrs of Kurdistan are a crown upon their heads, and that while the price of freedom has always been high, fulfilling the martyrs’ dream of Kurdish unity and living in a free and democratic Kurdistan remains a moral and national duty that must be pursued to the very end.
