Kurdish voices in al- Darbasiyah urge unity amid regional upheaval

Amid the rapid transformations taking place across the Middle East, calls are increasing for Kurdish unity to confront regional challenges and safeguard political rights.

In this context, the administrator of the Democratic Union Party in the city of Al-Darbasiyah, Suleiman Khalil, stated that the current phase is among the most dangerous periods the Kurdish people have faced, given the wars and regional developments, particularly regarding the conflict in Iran and Northern Kurdistan.

He warned that these developments could bring major transformations to the Middle East, especially with parts of Kurdistan located within Iranian geography.

Khalil pointed out that the calls made by Abdullah Öcalan to hold a Kurdish national conference encompassing all four parts of Kurdistan represent an urgent necessity to unify political and military decision-making.

He stressed that the absence of such unity would negatively impact the rights of the Kurdish people, noting that the Kurdish conference held in Qamishli in 2025 did not achieve the desired outcomes, as some parties distanced themselves from its conclusions.

For his part, Alan Maish, an administrator in the People’s Council of Al-Darbasiyah, explained that the Kurdish people demonstrated their ability to unite during periods of general mobilization in Rojava, overcoming party affiliations to confront challenges. However, he noted that disputes among political parties still constitute an obstacle to achieving comprehensive unity.

He called for the official declaration of a unified Kurdish reference framework to reduce divisions within the Kurdish street, emphasizing that Kurdish unity forms the foundation for confronting current challenges.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Khalaf, a member of the Democratic Union Party in Al-Darbasiyah, stated that the Middle East is passing through a sensitive phase marked by rapid changes, which requires a more active Kurdish role.

He noted that the July 19 Revolution in Rojava marked a pivotal moment in conveying the Kurdish voice to the international community and stressed the importance of building on this experience to strengthen Kurdish political presence.

In conclusion, the speakers emphasized that Kurdish unity has become an urgent necessity during this stage, calling for overcoming partisan disputes and working jointly to strengthen political representation and protect the future of the Kurdish people amid the accelerating regional changes.
