Kurdish Politicians emphasize importance of national unity

 The Kurdistan National Congress has launched an initiative to convene a comprehensive conference for Kurdish parties in Syria. The aim is to address existing disagreements and unify positions in response to the growing anger among Kurdish communities and repeated calls for national unity. This initiative comes amid ongoing threats from the Turkish occupying state against NE Syria, especially following the fall of the Ba'ath regime.

 In this context, Kurdish politician Farhan Khalil from Hasaka highlighted the need for unity, stating, “In times of difficulty, nations across the world come together. We, as Kurds, facing continuous oppression and attempts at extermination by our enemies, we must unite to counter these conspiracies.”

 He added, “Today, every Kurdish individual, official, and patriot has a duty to perform. Some oppose national unity for personal gain. It is imperative for the Kurdish people and political parties to exert pressure to achieve unity and confront such individuals.”

 Khalil described the current period as a "make-or-break moment," warning that prolonged divisions could cost the Kurds another century of lost opportunities for unity. He pointed out that the Turkish occupation is determined to eliminate the achievements of the revolution in NE Syria, just as it opposed the independence of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

 Khalil called for overcoming partisan and personal divisions to establish a strong popular base. “We must strive for national unity beyond slogans and individual figures. History will not forgive us if we fail in this mission,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Muslim Abbas, the member of the political bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Peace Party in Derbasiya, criticized the Kurdish National Council (KNC) for not responding to calls for national unity.

 He said, “We initiated a proposal to unite the Kurdish ranks, but the KNC has not engaged. Now, the Kurdish National Unity Parties are organizing a comprehensive conference to address disagreements and unify positions.”

 Abbas emphasized the importance of presenting a united front in negotiations with the transitional Syrian administration to ensure the legitimate rights and representation of the Kurdish people.

 These repeated calls for national unity represent a historic opportunity for Kurds to overcome internal disputes and achieve their legitimate aspirations amidst escalating threats and challenges.
