Kurdish man kidnapped for listening to Kurdish songs in Aleppo

A young man from the town of Tal Aran in the southern countryside of Aleppo, who recently returned to his hometown from Southern Kurdistan to visit his family, has been kidnapped.

The Afrin Syria Human Rights Organization reported that on Thursday, forces of the Syrian transitional government abducted 30-year-old Abboud Ahmed Jumaa Atto and his mother Fatima, residents of Tal Aran village in southern Aleppo countryside, under the pretext of listening to Kurdish songs while at his uncle’s car shop in the village.

The organization added that Abboud was taken to the Al-Waha – Al-Safira prison in southern Aleppo countryside and remains in arbitrary detention to this day.

Abboud had left Syria at the start of the Syrian crisis and had recently returned to his village for a visit to see his family. He had planned to return to Southern Kurdistan after completing his vacation.
