Kongra Star in Kobani condemns crimes committed against women

On Thursday, Kongra Star in the city of Kobani organized an event in Free Woman Square to denounce the cutting of a female fighter’s braid by factions affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government.

The event began with a minute of silence, followed by a speech delivered by Beyman Alloush, a member of the Coordination Committee of Star Congress. She explained that the women of Rojava safeguarded the dignity of humanity during the 19 July Revolution and spread the women’s revolution across the world. She added: “Women fought with all their strength against the mercenaries and defeated the mentality that targets women. Through their resistance, they became a symbol of freedom.”

Beyman pointed out that the mercenaries are even terrified of women’s braids, and out of this fear, they cut the braid of one of the female fighters even after her martyrdom. She said: “They cut the braid of one fighter, but in return there are thousands and millions of women’s braids.”

At the conclusion of the event, a braid woven by women’s hands in the colors green, red, and yellow was hung in Free Woman Square, as the slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom” was chanted.
