Kongra Star in Derik condemns killing of young woman

Dozens of women gathered today at the Martyr Bawer Center for Revolutionary Youth in the city of Derik to participate in an event that included the reading of a statement on the killing of the young woman Delan Jankir Omar, which occurred two days ago at the hands of her father and brother. The event was organized by the Kongra Star.

In the statement, read by Kongra Star member Sial Abu Zaid, it was said: “We condemn the killing of the young woman Delan at the hands of her father and brother, and we affirm that violence against women is an attack on society as a whole, and that targeting Delan represents an attack on humanity and social values.”

The statement added: “We, as a women’s movement in Derik, will not accept the continuation of violations and injustice against women, and we will continue the struggle for the freedom of all women.”

In its conclusion, the statement stressed the need to confront patriarchal mentality and defend women’s rights, emphasizing that women will continue to protect their rights with their own will, and will not allow such crimes to be repeated.
