Armed fighters affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government committed a horrific massacre yesterday, Saturday, in the village of Um al-Tina in Deir Hafer, within the Tabqa canton. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of seven civilians, including women and children, and left four others injured.

The Kongra Star Coordination issued a written statement condemning the massacre.

The statement strongly denounced the atrocity, extended condolences to the families of the victims, and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded.

It noted that such attacks on civilians by Syrian Interim Government fighters continue regularly, saying: “At a time when we are struggling for the unity of the Syrian people and making significant efforts to achieve stability and democracy in Syria, these attacks contradict the stability of the people.”

The statement pointed out that the massacre occurred on the same day as the Women’s Unity Conference was held in Hasakah city. It added: “The massacre, in which most victims were women, was an attempt to destroy the unity of the Syrian people and Syrian women.”

The statement emphasized that public opinion knows well that the Syrian people have long been striving to build a democratic and peaceful life. It added: “In this context, numerous meetings, dialogues, and gatherings take place. Therefore, attacks like those by the Interim Government reveal that all efforts by the Damascus authority confront these dialogues and solutions with war.”

The statement concluded: “We, K. Star, will certainly demand accountability for those responsible for this massacre, especially since women and children were among the victims. Let everyone know that the power of women’s unity will not allow such attacks nor let criminals escape punishment. We will turn every place into a field of struggle and solidarity for Syrian women.”

The statement called on all Syrian women to strengthen their struggle against the jihadist authoritarian regime and to enhance their solidarity and unity. It also urged the Syrian people to stand against these attacks and confront the mentality hostile to popular solidarity. The statement stressed that silence in the face of attacks on civilians is complicity in this crime.
