The 22nd Extraordinary Congress of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) was held at the Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

At the congress, where Özgür Özal was the sole candidate for the party leadership, delegates from the Istanbul branch, party council members, and members of the Supreme Disciplinary Board refrained from casting their votes.

According to the party’s internal regulations, a confidence vote was held for the party chairman, the 60-member party council, and the 15-member Supreme Disciplinary Board.

At Özal’s request, delegates cast votes of “no confidence.” Following this, the election for the chairman and party bodies was conducted using a “unified list” method.

Özgür Özal succeeded in receiving all 835 valid votes cast, securing his re-election as Chairman. Out of 917 ballots, 835 were counted as valid, while 82 were declared invalid.
