KNK: Trump’s statements contain serious accusations against Kurdish people

On Tuesday, the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) issued a statement regarding recent remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump. In these remarks, Trump stated: "America supplied the Kurds with weapons so that they would hand them over to opponents of the Iranian regime; however, the Kurds kept these weapons for themselves."

The statement noted that these remarks contain serious accusations against the Kurds, suggesting that they may fall within the scope of a hostile agenda directed against them. It added: "There are forces hostile to the Kurds that do not wish to see any good come to them, and are actively working to execute schemes targeting them."

The statement further noted that relations between the Kurds and the United States span many years and have passed through various phases, ranging from cooperation to challenges. It warned that generalizing such accusations to encompass all Kurds would serve to damage Kurdish-American relations.

In its statement, the Congress affirmed its rejection of these remarks, describing them as dangerous. It pointed out that, to date, no clear information has emerged to substantiate the validity of these claims, thereby necessitating an explicit clarification. Furthermore, it emphasized that the parties and organizations affiliated with the Congress have not participated in any activities of this nature, nor do they possess any information regarding them.

The conference called upon U.S. President Donald Trump to cease making generalized accusations against the Kurds, demanding that he clearly identify the specific entities or groups to which his statements refer. It also called upon the Kurdish parties targeted by these accusations to issue clarifications to the public.

In concluding its statement, the Kurdistan National Congress affirmed that the Kurds, despite cultivating diplomatic relations with international powers as part of their struggle for freedom are neither mercenaries nor beholden to any external entity; rather, they act in accordance with their own political will and humanitarian values.
