Today, the Co-Presidency of the Executive Council of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) commemorated Ali Haydar Kaytan (Fuad) on the seventh anniversary of his martyrdom, which falls on July 3, 2018, through a statement.

The statement from KCK said:

"On May 12, 2025, the Bureau of the 12th Congress of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) announced to the public the martyrdom of comrades Fuad – Ali Haydar Kaytan and Riza Alton, who were among the leading cadres of our movement. Comrade Fuad was declared a symbol of ‘Loyalty to Leadership, Truth, and Sacred Life,’ and comrade Riza a symbol of ‘Freedom Companions.’ After this announcement by our movement, our people commemorated these two dear comrades in large numbers with all respect, love, and gratitude across all four parts of Kurdistan and beyond. On the third of July, the seventh anniversary of comrade Fuad’s martyrdom occurs. On this day in 2018, we once again remember comrade Fuad, the first comrade in our liberation struggle who walked with Leader Abdullah Ocalan (Apo) and the great victorious fighter, with all love and gratitude, and we bow with all respect and reverence before his precious memory.

There is no doubt that comrade Fuad’s martyrdom was a very harsh loss for our movement and our people. His presence in our struggle was a great source of education and organization and a great mind. Yet, through his revolutionary path spanning half a century, he created great values for us as a movement and a people, as a human being, a comrade, and a revolutionary who gave the utmost he could give. Comrade Fuad was among the first comrades who shared comradeship with Leader Apo and Haki Karer and Kemal Pir, from the day Leader Apo shook his hand until the moment of his martyrdom. He added great strength to the liberation struggle with faith, determination, persistence, and great enthusiasm. He dedicated his life to it, spending every moment in struggle, work, deepening, focusing, training, and leading his comrades. Comrade Fuad, who was the wise man of the mountains, the power of meaning through his knowledge, the strength of thought, and the intensity of his limitless emotion, was always a force and desire for struggle for his comrades and gave high morale to his comrades, illuminating their path through his deep understanding of meaning and comprehension of Leader Apo. When Leader Apo received the news of his martyrdom, he said: 'He was the comrade who understood me better than I understood myself.'

Comrade Fuad’s contribution to developing our understanding and comprehension of Leader Apo is very great. He was not only a great thinker and organizer but also a great trainer. His efforts, relentless work, and deepening in this regard were enormous. He had a great anger against everything that prevents humans and society from freedom. He lived this anger every moment and transformed it into the power of struggle and thought.

Comrade Fuad, whose revolutionary spirit and tireless work in the Kurdish liberation struggle cannot be described in words, is truly a great symbol of sacred life and truth. He is a comrade worthy of being understood and remembered in this way. We call on all our people and friends to commemorate our great martyr comrade Fuad on the seventh anniversary of his martyrdom to revive his memory. We remember him again with all respect, love, and gratitude, and we will achieve the sacred goal of freedom for all the martyrs of freedom and revolution through the implementation of Democratic Society socialism. We renew our promise once again on this occasion."
