The Kongra Star in the Shiran district of Kobani city issued a statement regarding the situation in Kobani and its surrounding countryside, particularly the situation of displaced women and children.

The statement was read in front of the Kongra Star center in Shiran district by Nesrin Mohamed; the member of the Sara Organization for Combating Violence Against Women.

The statement included:

"On January 6, 2026, a brutal campaign of genocide was launched against the will of the peoples. Attacks began on Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiya, Tabqa, and Raqqa, leading to a wave of displacement.

This campaign included killings, abductions, the martyrdom of civilians, and abuses against women, in addition to the implementation of a plan aimed at the extermination of women and communities in order to break the will of women. Due to the authoritarian and exclusionary mentality that does not want the will of women and society to advance, and because women's freedom means the freedom of society, the bodies of our martyred female comrades were thrown from heights, the braids of wounded comrades were cut, and the bodies of martyrs were desecrated.

These acts reveal their inhumanity towards women and society. These violations were committed in full view of the world, targeting all of Rojava, particularly Kobani.

Kobani was besieged, the surrounding villages were looted, and the town of Jalabiya was seized. The local population was used as human shields. These acts were perpetrated in full view of the world. As is well known, Kobani protected all of humanity from danger, and its inhabitants made immense sacrifices. Till today, Kobani has been facing severe and ongoing hardships due to the siege. Water, electricity, internet, and basic necessities have been cut off. Attacks against humanity are being waged against the people of Kobani and the villagers, especially along the city's southern border.

Residents are unable to return to their homes, children are forced to remain in schools, and thousands of children are deprived of education. We, as a women's movement, continue this revolution, in which thousands of our comrades have sacrificed their lives for freedom, and thousands of mothers have dedicated their lives to this cause. For 14 years we have been on this land, striving for unity and peace, so that all peoples and the world may live in safety and peace.

Today, Kobani is experiencing the greatest tragedy in its history, amid continued global silence regarding the inhumane violations committed by Turkish-backed mercenary groups.

We always affirm our readiness to act in accordance with the will of the peoples, for a free life and the unity of all peoples, and that the leader's ideologies unifying peoples will be constant within us.
