Iranian authorities arrest 4 women for participating in protests

The website "Voice of Kurdish and Iranian Detainees" published information on Thursday about the arrest of several women by Iranian authorities in recent days.

According to the report, Kimia Davoudi, a resident of Tehran, was arrested after security forces raided her home and took her to an unknown location. Her electronic devices and belongings were confiscated, and a judicial branch was assigned to her case, which is being handled by Judge Salavati.

Aida Izdi (19 years old) and Soken Naeji (21 years old), both residents of Jamestan, were also arrested after their homes were raided. Their families have not received any information about their whereabouts, the charges against them, or the legal proceedings, and they have not been allowed access to legal counsel.

Almas Bour was also arrested in Ilam province without a warrant and taken to an unknown location. There is no information about her health or whereabouts.

These arrests are part of a widespread campaign that has targeted women in the provinces of Sanandaj, Khorasan Razavi, Tehran, Isfahan, Karaj, Qazvin, and Fars. The campaign has focused on women who have had a prominent presence in the streets and participated in organizing and leading protests against the policies of the Iranian regime.

The wave of protests has continued since December 28, 2015, in the regions of East Kurdistan and Iran, fueled by escalating economic, political, and social crises. Iranian authorities; however, have responded with live ammunition, arrests, intensified security measures, and the deployment of large numbers of troops in an attempt to prevent a new uprising similar to the "Women, Life, Freedom" protests.
