K. Star: European Committee of Ministers implicitly approves violations against Leader

Kongra Star called on the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to reconsider its decision to grant Turkey more time to follow up on the situation in Imrali, considering it "implicit approval" by the council of the violations committed against leader Abdullah Ocalan.

K. Star viewed the decision of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe regarding the torture and extermination system imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan as "implicit approval" of what is being followed in Imrali.

In a statement published today, K. Star referred to "the historical resistance displayed by leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali prison for 26 years," stressing that this resistance is "a response to the political, military, and cultural extermination policies practiced by global hegemonic systems and their tools in the region, foremost among them the Erdogan regime, against the Kurdish people and other freedom-seeking peoples."

The statement mentioned that leader Abdullah Ocalan presented the theory of Democratic Nation and the Democratic Middle Eastern Confederation, and considered the freedom of women and their central role as a foundation for achieving a moral and political society.

K. Star also addressed the global campaign "Freedom for Leader Abdullah Ocalan, Solution to the Kurdish Issue," which was launched on October 10, 2023, noting that it was based on the importance of the leader’s philosophy in proposing radical solutions to problems and conflicts, serving all of humanity.

The statement urged the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to reconsider its decision issued on September 17, which grants Turkey more time to follow up on the situation in Imrali until September 2025. It also called on the international community, the UN General Assembly, and human rights institutions to assume their responsibilities regarding the violations against leader Abdullah Ocalan, including the "right to hope."

K. Star called on socialist democratic forces and women’s movements to take action and strengthen the joint struggle through active support and participation in the global campaign for the leader's freedom, affirming, "We will also escalate our struggle until achieving the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan.”
