A human rights activist confirmed that the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" uprising continues despite the Iranian authorities' attempts to deny it, noting that women in general must "break out of the deprivations of the religious establishment, and strive to introduce this achievement into the cultural concept that will confirm their liberation in consciousness."

The human rights activist from the city of As Suwayda, Iman Abu Assaf, believes that the women’s uprising in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran continues despite the Iranian authorities’ denial of this matter and their pretense of controlling the situation since the killing of the young Kurdish woman, Jina Amini, on September 16, 2022.

The “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” uprising, or in Arabic “Women, Life, Freedom,” has entered its third year, leaving behind two years of resistance and struggle in the face of various forms of oppression and torture under the authority of the patriarchal regime prevailing in Iran.

The uprising continues despite the Iranian regime's denial

Iman explains in an interview with ANHA's agency that "the revolution led by women is still ongoing and is manifested in multiple scenes, and the official media of the Millî s' regime is working, as is the custom of totalitarian ideological regimes, to deny this." She adds that "news leaks and always brings up that the soft, strong movement is ongoing and it is natural according to the tyrannical system that it be classified and sorted into places of exclusion."

Iman believes that the resonance and impact of the uprising "appear in its inspiration as a symbol first," and explains: "I believe that the resonance and impact of the movement appear in its inspiration as a symbol first, then as a discourse, and after that laying the foundations for building and changing the reality of women, and we must remember that what happened - before it was a procedure that I called the expression of declaring legitimate anger - was a seismic cultural event that caused shifts in the foundations of traditional understanding produced by the religious and male regime."

"Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" extends to India

The slogan "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" was present in the protests in India that erupted on August 9, following the murder of a 31-year-old female doctor after being sexually assaulted. Her body was found with multiple wounds in a public hospital in the eastern Indian city of Calcutta, which sparked a massive women's and popular protest.

Commenting on this, Iman says: "When the echo reaches India, it means that soon, for the first time in history, the world's media will be busy learning about women's acts of resistance that require cultural and practical behavior that works and is implemented."

Between As Suwayda and Iran: "Courage and Awareness"

Iman pointed to the similarity between the women's uprising in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran, and the remarkable participation of women in As Suwayda protesting against the ruling regime and demanding a change in the political situation in the country. She said: "Women in As Suwayda penetrated a complex, tyrannical regime and were able to create an introduction to their entry into the political arena,"

noting that "women realized that what is needed is courage and awareness." Women in As Suwayda occupy the front lines of these daily protests witnessed by the region opposed to the Damascus government, as their presence has become a given in al-Sir (al-Karama) Square in the center of As Suwayda city.

"General Revolution"

Regarding the future of the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" uprising and its impact on Iranian society in particular, Iman pointed out that its impact lies in "its entry into the cultural systems that address the status of women and their role in the issue of liberation and advancement through going through a complex and long-term qualitative transition process."

Iman noted that this uprising "will produce multiple interpretations that go beyond the conditions of blocking, exclusion and execution, and it seems that the upcoming impressions will come as an achievement that is adjacent to, and even in harmony with, a general revolution, and until then the current international events in which Iran has been involved will continue to delay the achievement through unprecedented measures in cruelty, and because it is a regime bound by a strict dark vision that lacks a sense that realizes that double pressure is nothing but the best and shortest way to cause a sequential explosion."

"Freedom from Doctrinal Constraint"

In her message to women and what they must do to confront all forms of violence and oppression practiced against them, Iman stated that what women are currently required to do is "to break the deprivations of the religious establishment and free their minds from doctrinal constraint, and to strive to introduce this achievement into the cultural concept that will confirm their liberation in consciousness."

Human rights activist Iman Abu Assaf suggested "seeking to resist what is implicit in the cultures and values of backward peoples, through awareness and training that realizes that what is unspoken and hidden in all texts, whether legal, historical or religious, is the primary goal in directing strikes at them, and this is exactly where the process of building the project begins."
