The Israeli military announced that it had carried out a new series of airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions in Tyre and other areas in southern Lebanon.

According to Israel’s Channel 12, Netanyahu held a security meeting to assess developments on the Lebanese front amid ongoing military operations and their widening scope in recent days.

In a further indication of a possible expansion of the confrontation, Israel’s Channel 13 reported that Netanyahu discussed options during the security assessment session to broaden military operations in Lebanon, including the possibility of resuming strikes on the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

According to the report, the Israeli leadership is considering expanding its target bank and increasing military pressure on Hezbollah if attacks against Israel continue — a move that could mark a significant shift in the course of the months-long confrontation and raise fears of a wider escalation.

The Israeli military stated that it had struck Hezbollah infrastructure in the city of Tyre and other areas in southern Lebanon, claiming that weapons depots and facilities used by the group were targeted.

Channel 12 also revealed parallel political moves accompanying the military escalation, reporting that Israel has asked the United States for a green light to expand operations in Lebanon to include targets inside Beirut, amid growing conviction within Israel’s security establishment of the need to increase pressure on Hezbollah.
