Israeli Minister warns: War with Syria becomes inevitable

Chikli announced that war is now unavoidable in a post he shared on his account on the “X” platform, commenting on the growing tensions along the Syrian-Israeli border.

His statement followed the circulation of recordings showing Syrian soldiers chanting in support of Gaza near the border areas with Israel; an act Tel Aviv viewed as a direct security threat.

In a related development, Israeli military assessments revealed the possibility that armed groups active in southern Syria, backed by regional actors, might attempt infiltration or a sudden breach into the occupied Golan Heights using trucks and four-wheel-drive vehicles carrying fighters equipped with light weapons.

Israeli sources confirmed that the army is preparing for what it described as a “nightmare scenario,” which may include armed fighters reaching kibbutzim and agricultural communities in the Golan Heights and the Jordan Valley, posing a direct threat to local residents.

It is noteworthy that Israel deployed forces and military equipment in southern Syria after the fall of the previous regime, including strategic positions on Mount Hermon. Meanwhile, Damascus insists on rejecting any security agreement before Israel withdraws from the areas it entered since December of last year.

This warning comes amid the suspension of security talks between the two sides since September 2025, raising fears of a potential escalation along the border.
