Israel targets Quneitra countryside

Areas in the countryside of Quneitra in southern Syria were subjected to new Israeli shelling, reigniting tensions in the border region amid ongoing repeated strikes and daily incursions.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported today that Israeli forces targeted the Kodna forest with two artillery shells, while another shell landed in the eastern Tel al-Ahmar area, causing a state of tension in the region.

According to sources, no human casualties have been recorded so far as a result of the shelling, with damage limited to material losses at the targeted sites.

The countryside of Quneitra and southern Syria in general witness intermittent field escalations due to shelling and incursions carried out by Israeli forces from their positions in the Golan.

Previously, Israeli forces targeted areas in the Quneitra countryside yesterday, where five artillery shells fell around the strategic Mantara Dam, with the shelling concentrated west of the dam. No civilian injuries were reported, though material damage affected surrounding agricultural lands.
