The Israeli army reported the arrest of an “Iranian cell” during a special operation in southern Syria.

The Israeli army announced on Wednesday the arrest of an “Iranian cell” during a special operation in southern Syria last night.

In a statement, the army said that “Forces from the 474th Brigade of the 210th Division carried out a special operation last night to capture a cell of saboteurs directed by Iran in the Um al-Luqas and Ain al-Basali areas in southern Syria, in coordination with field investigators from Unit 504.”

It added that “Based on intelligence information received in recent weeks through investigations, the brigade forces conducted a focused nighttime operation that resulted in the arrest of a number of saboteurs. Additionally, the forces found combat equipment, including weapons and hand grenades, in the area where the saboteurs were arrested.”

The statement confirmed that “The division’s forces continue their efforts to prevent the establishment of any terrorist entity in Syria, in order to protect the citizens of the State of Israel, especially the residents of the Golan Heights.”
