Iraqi MP accuses Turkey of delaying army pullout

An Iraqi MP stated that Turkey is pursuing a clear policy of procrastination and deliberate delay in withdrawing its occupying military forces from Iraqi territory. He also pointed out that Ankara's intentions toward Iraq have become apparent, as it exploits the political situation and government silence to justify its military operations inside the country.

Iraqi MP Mukhtar Al-Mousawi confirmed today that Turkey is pursuing a clear policy of procrastination and deliberate delay in withdrawing its occupying military forces from Iraqi territory, blatantly ignoring Iraqi demands to end its presence.

"The Turkish occupation continues to bomb areas in northern Iraq despite the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) announcing its abandonment of arms," Al-Mousawi told Roj News Agency.

He added, "Ankara's intentions regarding Iraq are now exposed, as it exploits the political situation and the government's silence to justify its military operations inside the country,"

The Iraqi MP called on the Iraqi government to "act urgently and immediately to evacuate Turkey's military bases in Nineveh Province and other areas, as the PKK has removed all pretexts." He noted that "there is significant stalling on Turkey’s part regarding its military presence, ignoring the peace initiative."
