Iraqi Intelligence arrests “High-Risk Terrorist” from ISIS mercenaries

The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service announced the arrest of a high-risk terrorist affiliated with ISIS mercenaries in Baghdad.

According to a statement by the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service, "Through exceptional intelligence efforts, precise monitoring, and prolonged tracking of the suspect’s movements, the heroes of the Counter-Terrorism Service succeeded in apprehending one of the most dangerous terrorists in the capital, Baghdad, against whom an arrest warrant was issued by the Service’s judiciary."

The statement added, "The terrorist previously operated within the so-called Southern Wilayah in a military capacity, then moved to work within the Wilayah of Nineveh in a position associated with the so-called Islamic Police. He later assumed a role in the Sharia Commission’s Da’wah Battalion before transferring to the command of the Nahawand Division within ISIS terrorist groups."

The Counter-Terrorism Service concluded by noting, "This operation is part of the Service’s ongoing proactive efforts to pursue and dismantle the remnants of ISIS terrorist factions."
