Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, stressed that Iraq continues its intensive consultations with regional and Western countries, with the aim of urging them to adopt a unified position that supports the launch of an inclusive political process in Syria.
This came in a statement issued by the ministry after Hussein's meeting with the Minister of State at the German Foreign Ministry, Tobias Lindner, in Munich.
The Iraqi foreign minister pointed to "his country's fears of the possible repercussions of developments in Syria, especially in light of the concentration of large numbers of terrorists near the Iraqi border." "Through these consultations, Iraq seeks to ensure a comprehensive political process in Syria that includes all Syrian parties and components," he said, stressing that the Syrian people must determine the form of government in their country.
For his part, German Minister of State Tobias Lindner stressed that Germany is closely following the developments in Syria, expressing his country's support for the stability of the region.
