Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander killed in Syria

An Israeli bombing that targeted a villa in the Batraya area on the southern outskirts of Banias, on the Syrian coast, resulted in the killing of an Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander.

The Iranian News Agency reported that a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, who was working as a military advisor in Syria, was killed in a suspected Israeli raid today.

Other Iranian media reports stated that Reda Zarey was killed along with 2 members from the Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah group.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, in turn, confirmed the killing of a commander of Iranian nationality and two others who were with him of non-Syrian nationality, as a result of the Israeli targeting of a villa in the Batraya area on the southern outskirts of Banias on the Syrian coast.

The Observatory stated that Tartous witnessed “three violent explosions at dawn today, resulting from an air strike likely to have been Israeli, targeting a villa in the Batraya area on the southern outskirts of Baniyas, on the Syrian coast.”
