Internal Security Forces assume protection duties in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods
The Internal Security Forces in Aleppo confirmed that they have assumed the duties of military forces, in addition to their duties, to protect the safety and security of residents in the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods from any danger.
In implementation of Article 6 of the agreement concluded between the General Council of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods and the Damascus authorities, which stipulated "the withdrawal of military forces with their weapons from the two neighborhoods to the area east of the Euphrates," military forces with their equipment left the two neighborhoods east of the Euphrates yesterday, Friday.
The General Command of the People's Protection Units (YPG) affirmed in a statement that it remains committed to the principles of Autonomous-Administration and the popular will, and will continue to adapt its position to the strategic requirements of the new phase, handing over protection duties in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods to the Internal Security Forces.
A commander in the Internal Security Forces in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo, Colonel Arin Abdo, explained to ANHA agency that they are concerned with the recently signed agreement regarding the situation in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods. This agreement will see the military forces assume their duties, in addition to their duties of protecting the safety and security of the residents of the two neighborhoods from any danger.
Arin Abdo noted that their experience spanning more than a decade in protecting the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, with all their components, reflects the readiness and dedication of the Internal Security Forces, with all its divisions, to fulfill the tasks assigned to them in accordance with the agreement. Arin Abdo emphasized that their forces are committed to preserve the gains achieved thanks to the blood of martyrs and to providing security and stability in the two neighborhoods.
