The General Command of the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria reported that its forces repelled an attack by ISIS mercenaries on a checkpoint east of Deir ez-Zor.

The General Command of the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria announced today that its forces repelled an RPG attack launched by ISIS cells on a checkpoint in the town of Darnaj, east of Deir ez-Zor, at around 1:00 a.m.

In an official statement, the command clarified that the clashes between the forces and the ISIS mercenaries resulted in material damage only, with no injuries reported among the security personnel. The attackers fled the scene following the confrontation.

The statement added that, immediately after the attack, the forces began combing the area and launched intensive patrols to pursue the mercenaries and restore security in the town's surroundings.

The command reaffirmed its continued efforts to track down ISIS cells despite the increase in their activities in the region. It emphasized that such attacks aim to destabilize the area and threaten civilian safety but will not deter the security forces from fulfilling their duty to protect the people and defend the region’s stability.
