Internal Forces form committee to investigate death of Ala’a Al-Amin

Today, the General Command of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) – Jazira Canton issued a statement to the public regarding reports about the death of Ala’a Al-Amin. It said: “On March 8, 2026, some media outlets and social media platforms circulated news related to the death of the young man ‘Ala’a Al-Amin’, who was visiting the Autonomous Administration areas coming from Sweden, along with allegations concerning the circumstances of his detention and death.”

The command added: “We, in the General Command of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), based on our moral and professional responsibility toward the safety and security of our citizens, clarify the following: we clearly affirm that the principles upon which the Internal Security Forces were founded are primarily based on protecting human dignity and safeguarding rights, and that any practices outside the framework of the law and human values do not represent the approach of our institution nor its general policies.”

The statement continued: “Immediately after the incident, a high-level investigation committee was formed, including a group of specialists, legal experts, and observers, to review all details of the incident and determine the precise circumstances of the death.”

The command also stated: “We commit before our people and public opinion to publishing the results of the investigation with full transparency once it is completed, while stressing that anyone proven to be involved in negligence or violations of applicable laws and regulations will be held accountable.”

The General Command of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) – Jazira Canton concluded: “Our primary duty has always been, and will remain, to protect society and ensure justice in all cases, and we will not hesitate to take the necessary measures to uphold these principles.”
