The Internal Security Forces announced that one of their vehicles in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor canton was targeted by ISIS mercenary cells, and noted that there were injuries among its members, in a statement that read:

A vehicle belonging to the Internal Security Forces in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria was targeted in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor canton, which the forces claimed was carried out by ISIS mercenary cells, resulting in the injury of two. One of the Anti-Narcotics Department's vehicles was attacked this afternoon, Monday, December 23, by unknown individuals riding a motorcycle, belonging to ISIS terrorist cells, on the highway near the town of Mohimida in western Deir ez-Zor.

The attack resulted in the injury of two members of our forces, and their health condition is stable after being transferred to receive the necessary medical care.

We point out that the activity of terrorist cells has seen a noticeable increase recently, exploiting the security vacuum in some areas of western Euphrates, which necessitates intensifying security efforts to eliminate these threats.

We also affirm the continuation of our forces in pursuing these terrorist groups and enhancing security and stability in the region, while our forces continue to conduct precise monitoring based on evidence obtained to reach the perpetrators and hold them accountable.

Yesterday, security points in the countryside of al-Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor were targeted by ISIS mercenary cells, making the latest attack the third in less than 24 hours.
