Injured people recount moments of targeting and address public opinion, “Where are you?”

Yesterday, the Turkish occupation army bombed a gathering of civilians on duty at the Tishreen Dam, south of Kobani. The bombing resulted in the death of 4 citizens and the wounding of 22 others, many of whom had serious injuries. They were transferred to hospitals in the cities of Kobani and Tabqa.

Fares Khalo, who is in his seventies, was one of the shifters at the Tishreen Dam, and was injured by shrapnel in the head. While blood was pouring from his head, he was repeating: “We will not leave the dam, this is our land.” He added: "By God, we will not abandon our dam. This dam not only irrigates humans, but also irrigates every neighborhood in the region." He addressed international organizations and global public opinion, saying: “Where are you?”

Faris Khalo was taken to Tabqa City Hospital to receive treatment, where he told ANHA agency: “We went from Al-Jazira Canton to shift on the Tishreen Dam to protect it in high spirits, and we started the shift, and suddenly we were targeted.”

Faris called on the international community and public opinion to stand up to the fascist Turkish occupation state that is committing massacres against civilians. He stressed the need for the people to come together with all their components, including Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs and Armenians, to confront this occupation and put an end to its crimes.

Faris Khalo also confirmed that he will return to continue the shift on the Tishreen Dam once he leaves the hospital, saying: “I will fight for the Tishreen Dam until the last drop of blood in my body.”

Among the injured who arrived at Tabqa Hospital was Abd al-Razzaq Hassan Muhammad, who was injured in his right forearm. He said: "We went to participate in the shifts on the Tishreen Dam to protect it, and the Turkish occupation targeted our gathering while we were participating in the Dabkeh."

Abd al-Razzaq Muhammad stressed: “This dam is our dam, and it is our duty to protect it. We will not accept its occupation by Erdogan, and these attacks will not discourage us to participate again in the shifts.”
