In “Saydnaya Afrin”, people are roasted alive

It is said that “whoever deal with a people for forty days becomes one of them”, but this saying did not literally apply to the citizen (M, S), who was transformed from a father of three children within 42 days of kidnapping at the hands of the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation army to a lifeless body, devoid of soul and memories.

The family requested not to reveal their full name or photograph them for many reasons, including their fear that mercenaries of the Turkish occupation state would attack the rest of their family members in occupied Afrin, out of revenge, and not to remain silent about the crimes committed

During the 3 hours that the reporter stayed with citizen (M, S) to try to understand what happened to him, he failed because his memory did not even help him remember the names of some of his family members. However, in the end, with the help of his family, we were able to document part of the crimes and violations he was exposed to.

The story of the kidnapping of citizen (M, S) begins with the mercenaries’ occupation of the remaining villages of Afrin and Al-Shahba canton on 12/1/2024. He was taken, because of his Kurdish identity, to an unknown destination and subjected to beatings for 5 continuous days.

He was then forced to go to the occupied city of Afrin and was placed in the notorious Maaratah prison, which is run by the so-called “Hamzat” mercenaries affiliated with the Turkish occupation army, along with Turkish intelligence.

“They tortured us while we were listening to the Holy Quran”

He repeats sayings that remained in his mind during the torture, such as “Burn him... hang him... you are infidels... you thieves” and other phrases and insults that have never left his memory.

In addition, when he heard the sound of the door starting to close, his face began and a bout of continuous shaking and screaming stemming from intense fear began. At first glance, when ANHA correspondent met with (MS), he encountered a hysterical reaction stemming from fear towards him because he was carrying the camera, thinking that it was another tool for torture.

He reported that, they were tortured while recordings of the “Holy Qur’an” were played, in a picture that embodies the contradiction between the teachings of the true religion, which calls for peace, brotherhood, and honoring the human soul, and the brutal, inhuman torture that devastates humanity.

180 lashes with the whip

After reviewing the doctor responsible for his current condition, who said that he survived “miraculously,” it was found that citizen (M, S) had been subjected to horrific torture in all parts of his body without exception. Starting from the face, which suffered fractures in four teeth in the jaw, and cracks in the sides of the lips, all the way to the beginnings of the cheek, as a result of the severe beating.

Black bruises and cracks in the skin and flesh also spread throughout his body as a result of being beaten with a whip. The citizen indicated that he was once subjected to continuous flogging, which he counted as 180 lashes, which caused him to lose consciousness.

“They cut off his toes with a chainsaw”

As for the feet, they are in the worst condition, according to the physical medical assessment, 9 out of 10 toes were partially or completely cut off using a saw or any other sharp tool.

As for the bottom of the foot, the doctor indicates that the torturers forced him to stand on a preheated surface, causing third-degree burns and the skinning of the flesh from the foot because it stuck to the hot surface, as if he was being roasted while he was alive.

The pictures show the bottom of the foot bone, as well as the vast area of ​​skinning that occurred, in addition to the spread of infections as a result of poor health conditions at the site of the kidnapping.

When asked the question "What did they do to you?" He answers in a voice tinged with astonishment: “They performed 11 surgeries on me, all of them successful, that’s what they told me.”

They left him thinking he was dead

42 days after the disappearance of the citizen (M, S), a passer-by found him in front of the Afrin Military Hospital as a collapsed corpse lying on the ground next to his ID card. The citizen rushed to help him by reading his personal information from the ID card and communicating with one of his relatives from the village to which he belongs.

His relatives took him to a hospital in the city of Aleppo, the place where he met ANHA correspondent.

The curse of Saydnaya still haunts the Syrians

Although the Syrians got rid of Bashar al-Assad's regime, the curse of Sednaya prison has spread to the prisons run by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, especially in Afrin, and is still haunting them.

In parallel with the failure to achieve justice in bringing war criminals such as Hatem Abu Shakra, Saif Abu Bakr, and Abu Amsha to justice to be tried for committing crimes against Syrians in service of the Turkish occupation agendas.
