In less than 24 hours... second drone found crashed in northwest Turkey

Turkish authorities found a crashed drone of unknown origin in the northwest of the country, the second such incident in less than 24 hours. Investigations indicate that one of the drones was Russian-made and used for reconnaissance purposes.

An unidentified drone was found crashed in a field in northwest Turkey, the second such incident in less than 24 hours, according to Turkish media reports today.

Several Turkish media outlets indicated that the crashed drone bore no identifying markings and that the small drone was found in an empty field near the city of Balıkesir (Balıkasır), about three hours southwest of Istanbul.

The incident appears to have occurred several days ago, according to Turkish media reports citing accounts from villagers in the area. This is the second such incident in less than 24 hours and the third since Monday.

Turkish authorities revealed that one of the drones involved in these incidents was "Russian-made."

On Friday, a crashed drone was found in a rural area near Izmit, east of Istanbul, about 30 kilometers from the Black Sea coast.

The Turkish Interior Ministry, which announced an investigation into the matter, stated that the drone is believed to be a "Russian-made Orlan-10 model used for reconnaissance and surveillance purposes, according to preliminary findings."
