Implementing March 10th Agreement tops Diplomatic Council's strategy in NE Syria

The Diplomatic Relations Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria held its annual meeting on Sunday in the city of Hasaka, in Jazira canton. More than 50 council members, the co-chairs of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Avin Sweid and Hussein Othman, and the co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, Ilham Ahmed attended.

The meeting began with holding a minute of silence, before proceeding to the agenda, which focused on evaluating the council's performance over the past year and discussing its plans and strategies for the coming year.

The attendees addressed the general political situation and international events that occurred in 2025, as well as regional developments with a direct impact on the Syrian situation, the changes that have taken place in the Syrian political scene, and their implications for the country's future.

The meeting also discussed the political, security, and humanitarian challenges that the region and Syrians faced during the past year, given the rapid pace of events. They emphasized that the March 10th Agreement constituted a fundamental entry point for achieving stability in Syria, provided that it is fully implemented, particularly following the ceasefire agreement.

The participants affirmed that implementing the March 10th Agreement represents the ideal solution for all Syrians to reach a democratic, decentralized Syria that protects the rights of all its components, preserves the dignity of Syrians, and establishes a new phase of political and social stability.

The Council noted that the March 10th Agreement is a fundamental pillar and a key strategy it has prioritized for the new year, emphasizing its commitment to continuing dialogue and negotiations aimed at implementing the agreement's provisions on the ground.

On the diplomatic front, the Council discussed its activities over the past year at the local, regional, and international levels through its representatives who participated in the meeting via video technology. They affirmed the growing international and regional openness to the project of the Democratic Autonomous Administration and its political model in Syria.

Domestically, the Council stressed that its second strategic focus for the new year is to protect and defend the gains achieved since the July 19th Revolution in various forums, recognizing them as the product of a long struggle and significant sacrifices.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council addressed its third strategy for the new year, which centers on strengthening external diplomatic efforts, promoting peace and stability, and consolidating democratic values among diverse peoples and societies, thereby contributing to building balanced relations based on dialogue and mutual understanding.
