Humanitarian aid convoy kicks off towards Syrian coast
A humanitarian aid convoy set off this morning from NE Syria towards the Coast region, carrying 10,000 food baskets to support civilians.
The Kurdish Red Crescent announced on Sunday the conduct of convoys of humanitarian and relief aid, in order to support civilians in the Coast region.
The Kurdish Red Crescent initiative comes in response to the urgent need to provide relief and basic assistance to the people of the Coast, who have been subjected to massacres and violations in ongoing attacks between Damascus authority forces and armed groups.
This morning, a convoy of many trucks, accompanied by the Kurdish Red Crescent, headed from the city of Qamishlo to the city of Hasakah, then Raqqa and then Tabqa towards the Coast.
Ahmed al-Muhaimeed, from the Kurdish Red Crescent ambulance team, said: "We carried out a campaign in cooperation with civil society and people in NE Syria to provide assistance to our people in the Coast." The convoy is carrying 10,000 food baskets and flour provided from NE Syria to the people of the coast, al-Muhaimeed said.
According to the Kurdish Red Crescent staff, the convoy will include 20 trucks loaded with food.
The Kurdish Red Crescent thanked all civil Bodies and companies that contributed to the success of this initiative, stressing that these efforts reflect the spirit of solidarity among the people of the country.
