HPG: Turkish occupation attacked defense zones 9,790 times during April

The People's Defense Forces (HPG) issued a statement today revealing the outcome of the battles in April. The statement read:

"The Kurdistan Freedom Guerillas, who are the hope for a free future for our people, in response to Leader Apo's historic call, declared a ceasefire on March 1, 2025. During the two months following the statement made by our leadership at the HPG Central Command Headquarters, all our forces mobilized in accordance with the ceasefire decision. Therefore, the Kurdistan Freedom Guerillas responded to the needs of this sensitive period with great patience and self-sacrifice.

The Turkish occupation army took advantage of the months of March and April, during which the Kurdistan Freedom Fighters declared a ceasefire, and focused on immoral methods and insisted on the concept of genocide. Despite mobilizing all its forces, it was unable to break the historic resistance of the guerrillas. It was defeated in the western Zap region, the center of Zap. Following this defeat, the Turkish occupation army intensified its attacks on trenches and tunnels in the resistance areas. In turn, the Kurdistan Freedom Guerillas responded appropriately to these attacks within the framework of legitimate defense, preventing the occupiers from advancing. Unable to overcome this formidable resistance, the occupiers once again resorted to using chemical weapons, prohibited explosives, and prohibited phosphorus bombs against our forces, thereby exceeding the standards of war. They have become a source of honor and dignity for our people.

The occupiers who confronted the PKK militants in every inch of the sacred land of Kurdistan were unable to achieve their goal, despite attacking the guerrilla resistance areas with technology capable of destroying cities. Our comrades Besi and Mitra, who were martyred as a result of the chemical attack launched by the Turkish occupation army, and our comrades Khabat, Koran, and Agid, who fought and resisted the occupiers until the last moment despite their wounds, raising the banner of victory for the PKK and the Kurdistan Women's Freedom Party as representatives of the strong apocalyptic will, have become a source of honor and dignity for our people.

The Kurdistan Freedom Fighters in Northern Kurdistan, as in the Legitimate Defense Zones, successfully implemented guerrilla plan of democratic modernity in practice, thwarting dozens of operations launched by the occupation forces involving thousands of soldiers and using military technology. Our professional guerrilla teams, applying the professional methods and techniques of the new era, did not suffer any losses in Northern Kurdistan.

The Kurdistan Freedom Fighters, who adopted the principle that "the greatest technology is the human being" as their foundation, also confronted the occupiers in the skies of Kurdistan, even under difficult and arduous conditions. They dealt crushing blows to the occupiers' boastful technology, thus preventing the occupiers from entering, whether from land or air.

The occupiers attacked with chemical weapons, prohibited explosives, and internationally prohibited phosphorus bombs.

The Turkish occupation army once again committed war crimes against our forces. They used chemical weapons, phosphorus bombs, and internationally prohibited explosives seven times, attempted to destroy our resistance tunnels with bulldozers, and bombed our areas 76 times with warplanes, 12 times with attack helicopters, twice with suicide drones, and 9,693 times with heavy weapons and artillery shells.

Repelling Occupation Attacks 17 Times

Our forces, acting on the basis of legitimate defense, repelled the invaders' attacks 17 times. As a result, one occupying soldier was killed and five others were wounded. A tank, two armored vehicles, two surveillance camera systems, artillery, two suicide drones, and a jamming device were destroyed. An armored vehicle, a container, and a truck were also struck, and a drone was seized.

Our four comrades were martyred in April. They defended the sacred land of Kurdistan against the invaders with great self-sacrifice. They fought with the spirit of self-sacrifice, becoming the honor and dignity of our people, and leaving behind the banner of struggle for us and their comrades. Once again, we remember our immortal martyrs, who are our yesterday, today, and tomorrow, with love, respect, and gratitude.
