Dozens of contract teachers staged a sit-in on Thursday in front of the Directorate of Education building in Hasakah, protesting the non-payment of their salaries and demanding permanent appointments within the Ministry of Education.

The demonstrators held banners reading, "We demand permanent employment and refuse to remain silent," "We demand payment of our July and August salaries," and "I have the right to live." They reaffirmed their commitment to defending their employment and livelihood rights, calling on the relevant authorities to respond to their demands.

The protest follows the Ministry of Education's decision to withhold July and August salaries from a group of contract teachers, while also failing to regularise their employment status within the education sector, a move that has sparked widespread frustration among those affected.

Participants in the sit-in said they would continue their protest until their demands are met.
