Hasaka governor meets Al-Sharaa on key Issues

The Hasakah Governorate announced that a meeting was held bringing together interim government head Ahmed al-Sharaa, Hasakah Governor Nour al-Din Ahmed, presidential envoy Brigadier Ziad al-Ayesh, and Raqqa Governor Abdulrahman al-Salama, at the People’s Palace in Damascus.

This came after the governor participated, alongside Internal Security Forces Commander in Hasakah Brigadier Marwan al-Ali and his deputy Mahmoud Khalil, in the ceremony of lighting the Newroz flame in the Syrian capital.

During the meeting, several key issues were discussed, with emphasis on addressing the file of detainees and prisoners, and working toward emptying prisons by all concerned parties, in a way that enhances trust and creates conditions for stability.

The meeting also addressed the return of displaced people from the cities of Serekaniye, Girê Spî, and Afrin. It was agreed to form an official committee tasked with ensuring their safe and dignified return to their towns and villages.

On the services front, the statement noted discussions on education, highlighting its importance as a cornerstone of societal development. The development situation and ways to improve services in eastern Syria—especially in Hasakah—were also reviewed, with focus on key projects such as channeling water from the Tigris River for drinking and agriculture, and activating the Alouk water station to supply drinking water to Hasaka and its surroundings.

The need to develop infrastructure, particularly road networks and maintenance, was also emphasized due to its importance in supporting economic and service activity.

At the conclusion of the meeting, mechanisms to accelerate the implementation of the January 29 agreement were discussed, especially regarding the integration of institutions, aiming to enhance administrative efficiency and serve citizens’ interests.
