Gunmen impersonating Security Forces raid home, shop in Afrin

A house and a shop specializing in the sale and purchase of agricultural machinery in Sharra district, rural Afrin, were raided by unidentified gunmen posing as General Security personnel of the Syrian Interim Government, according to local sources.

The sources reported that four masked gunmen stormed the house and shop at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The property is located on the main road linking Aleppo and Afrin, near the Hanan Ziyara Cemetery in Sharra district.

The sources added that the gunmen conducted a search of both the house and the shop while the owner's wife was present at the scene. She was reportedly threatened with weapons during the raid.

The armed group allegedly seized a licensed firearm that was kept on the premises before leaving the area.

Following the incident, the family filed a complaint with the General Security authorities of the Syrian Interim Government. According to the family, officials stated that those responsible for the raid were not affiliated with the force and had merely impersonated official security personnel to carry out the operation. An investigation was subsequently launched, but no results had been announced at the time of reporting.
