Great sacrilege at shrines of occupied Serêkaniyê, Afrin

On Sunday, the Human Rights Organization Afrin - Syria published statistics of the crimes of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries in occupied Afrin.

The statistics revealed that the Turkish occupation state established a settlement over the Martyrs’ Shrine in the village of Qazqli in the Janders district of occupied Afrin.

Turkish occupation  has previously destroyed the shrines of martyrs and religious shrines of the Yazidis and Alawites in the Serêkaniyê and the occupied Afrin canton.

In May 2018, two months after the Turkish occupation of Afrin the occupation army destroyed the shrine of the martyr Seydo in the village of Qazqli and recently turned it into a settlement.

In August 2018, the occupying state demolished the shrine of the martyr Avesta Khabour in the village of Kafr Shel in occupied Afrin and later turned the shrine into a livestock market.

  In May 2020, the occupation army destroyed the shrine of the martyr Rafiq in the village of Matina in the Shara district of occupied Afrin.

In July 2021, the occupying state and its mercenary groups exhumed a shrine of the martyrs in the center of the city of Afrin and transported the remains to unknown places.

One of the most prominent shrines that was exposed to theft in August 2018 is the “Hanan” shrine located in the village of Mashala. It includes the shrine of the Kurdish scholar Nuri Dersami, in addition to the shrines of other Kurdish figures.

On February 27, 2018, the occupation army bulldozed a large part of the “Al-Fawqaniyya Cemetery” in the village of Sinara in the Shieh district, which included the “Ali Dada” shrine. According to some researchers, this cemetery dates back more than 4 centuries.

In May 2020, Turkey and its mercenaries exhumed a Yazidi shrine in the village of Qibar, called “Cil Khana,” and in the same month of the same year, the mercenaries destroyed and looted the cemetery of the Yazidi village of “Jan Tamr” in the occupied city of Serêkaniyê.

Turkey and its mercenaries also destroyed the Martyrs' Shrine in the occupied Serêkaniyê region and later turned the shrine into a military barracks.

Turkish crimes were not limited to NE Syria, as the Turkish occupation state often sends the remains of martyrs in wooden boxes or bags to their families in northern Kurdistan.
