Fuel restrictions trigger humanitarian crisis in Suwayda

A report published by Suwayda 24 revealed that fuel entry into Suwayda has been under strict security control since mid-July, resulting in a near-complete suspension of fuel distribution and a worsening humanitarian crisis in the area.

Sources from Suwayda's fuel company said the supply of gasoline and diesel has been entirely halted since July 13 due to an unofficial "security decision," causing most fuel stations to run out of stock.

The sources added that a small convoy—two gasoline tankers and two diesel tankers designated for service departments—entered Suwayda on July 30 for the first time in over two weeks. Limited amounts of diesel had also begun arriving since July 19 via the humanitarian crossing in Bosra al-Sham, with one or two tankers per day allocated to vital facilities such as bakeries, hospitals, and the water authority.

Suwayda 24 also reported that some stations had pre-existing allocations before July 13, but fuel deliveries were halted based on security instructions under the pretext of "current conditions."

However, according to the sources, the entry of two gasoline tankers on July 30 challenges the official narrative that there were insurmountable obstacles preventing the delivery of the usual daily supply—previously around 8 gasoline and 8 diesel tankers per day.
