From Hasaka: Demands for leader Ocalan's freedom, rejection of conspiracy continuation

On the 27th anniversary of the international conspiracy targeting the leader Abdullah Ocalan on February 15, 1999, thousands of residents of Hasaka city took to the streets demanding his freedom and condemning the attacks on Rojava.

The residents gathered at the Fire Department roundabout in the Tel Hajar neighborhood, carrying a banner on which "The January 6th attack on Rojava is a second February 15th betrayal" was written. They also raised pictures of Abdullah Ocalan and Kurdish symbols and flags.

The participants chanted slogans such as "The people want Ocalan's freedom," "No life without the leader," and "Long live the Imrali resistance."

The march began at the Fire Department roundabout and proceeded to the Tishrin Dam stadium, before transforming into a mass rally that commenced with holding a minute of silence in remembrance of the martyrs. Hadiya Yousef; the member of the co-chairmanship of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), then delivered a speech in which she condemned the international conspiracy and the forces involved. She stated, "We send our greetings and affection to leader Abdullah Ocalan. This international conspiracy targeted the philosophy of freedom, justice, and democracy, and aimed to break the will of the peoples."

She pointed out that the conspiracy had targeted the Kurdish people and all those yearning for freedom, embodied in leader Abdullah Ocalan. She added, "The parties involved in this conspiracy do not want brotherhood among peoples or the building of a free and democratic society, and therefore they continue their attacks on the region today."

Hadiya Yousef emphasized that "the leader's philosophy has enabled us to live a free, dignified, and democratic life, and has become a universal philosophy that strengthens the unity of peoples and justice. The leader is struggling today in Imrali for his people, and has made it an academy for free democratic thought."

She made clear that the region is going through a dangerous phase in which some are trying to sow discord between the Kurdish and Arab peoples, adding, "But the project of brotherhood among peoples will thwart this conspiracy. This issue has become the cause of all the peoples of the Middle East, and it will prevail through the solidarity and unity of the peoples."

She concluded by emphasizing that women's leadership of this revolution is a great victory, and protecting its gains is a fundamental goal.

The march and protest concluded with chants praising the Rojava resistance and demanding the physical freedom of the leader Abdullah Ocalan.
